Description - Professional, compact Xtar MC1 USB-C processor charger for Li-ion batteries in the 18650 and other sizes
Key features: Processor-controlled three-stage TC/CC/CV charging process Powered by any USB-C charger or a computer's USB port (min. 0.5A) Small size - easy to carry Deeply discharged cell reactivation function Protection: short circuit, thermal, and reverse polarity Xtar is a renowned manufacturer of high-quality chargers for Li-ion batteries, flashlights, and rechargeable Li-ion batteries. Xtar products are sold in over 120 countries, including the USA, Germany, Japan, and Russia. Xtar uses the highest quality materials in the production of chargers, from the plastic housing to the efficient electronics. All Xtar chargers are CE certified, required for European markets.
Hidden within the compact housing is a fully professional processor charger with a three-stage TC/CC/CV charging process. Charges 3.6/3.7V Li-ion cells of any capacity in sizes 10440, 14500, 14650, 16340, 17500, 17670, 18350, 18500, 18650, 18700, 20700, 21700 (unprotected only), 25500, and 26500.
What is the TC/CC/CV charging method? It is a three-stage charging process for Li-ion cells that ensures the cell is in good condition by charging with the appropriate current at each stage and terminating the charging process at the appropriate time.
The individual stages of the TC/CC/CV process are: TC phase: Cells discharged below 2.9V are "waked up" with a lower current. CC phase: Once the cell reaches 2.9V, it is charged with a constant current of 0.5A. CV phase: When the cell is almost fully charged, the charger switches to charging with a decreasing current until the cell voltage reaches 4.2V. Once 4.2V is reached, the charging process is complete - the battery is fully charged. Batteries with a voltage of 4.1V or higher are considered charged by the charger. To fully charge such a battery, insert it into the charger before connecting it to the mains. Charged batteries left in the charger will naturally self-discharge. Charging will resume when the battery voltage drops below 4.1V.
The Xtar MC1 charger has a function to reactivate deeply discharged cells and cells with a voltage of 0V. Many chargers on the market are unable to charge such batteries. This is where the Xtar MC1 charger comes in handy, allowing such cells to be "rescued" in many cases. Simply insert a deeply discharged battery into the MC1 charger as you would during normal charging - the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it.
Note: Cells discharged below a certain level are irreversibly damaged and may not be reactivated. Avoid deep discharging Li-ion batteries - this can significantly reduce their lifespan and capacity, or even cause them to fail completely.
Chargers from other manufacturers can significantly increase the temperature of the cells being charged during charging. Excessive heating of the cells can cause them to wear out faster. When designing the MC1 charger, Xtar went a step further than the competition, solving this problem simply by using an external power supply. This ensures that the temperature of the battery being charged in the MC1 will increase by no more than 15 degrees Celsius.
The Xtar MC1 charger comes with a USB-C cable and a protective case for transport. The power supply is not included. To power the charger, any charger with a USB-C cable, such as a phone charger, a USB port, or a computer with a free USB port is sufficient. The recommended minimum charger power is 0.5A (500mA).
